Wood 'short course' set for Expo Richmond
The Department of Sustainable Biomaterials at Virginia Tech (VT) will be conducting an Educational Session, “Understanding Wood as a raw Material,” May 20, 2021, at Expo Richmond. “The session,” says VT Professor, Henry Quesada, “is geared for architects, engineers, contractors, wood manufacturers and ‘hobby’ woodworkers. All you need to do is register to participate, then show up with enthusiasm to learn!”
- The one-day short course will “introduce” wood as a raw material for manufacturing, and will address questions like: Is this the right wood for my application? Why is moisture content so important? How do I differentiate between species?
- During the 8AM – 5PM session, participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on application of the tools and methods discussed. And all materials (plus coffee break refreshments) are included in the registration fee.
Visit www.sbio.vt.edu for all of the course details. The deadline to register is May 10.
