'Back in the Swing of Things' for the SCMA
After the challenges of the past year, what better way for the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA) to kick-start 2021 than to gather its members for the Association’s Annual Meeting at the Hyatt Regency Austin, March 23-24. There is still time to register to attend. And here’s what’s planned.
- The evening of March 23, a networking reception/dinner will set the annual event in motion. All SCMA members - and interested prospective members - are encouraged to participate. (CDC COVID protocols and safety measures will be in place.)
- The following day, the SCMA membership will convene to elect officers, exchange business information and strategies, review the Association’s promotion plans, renew friendships, and simply catch up.
- Please note: SCMA’s meeting is being held in conjunction with the Hardwood Manufacturers Association’s National Conference & Expo. SCMA members are welcome to participate and may register for the HMA event at HMA member pricing. Registration and hotel information can be found at HMAmembers.org.
What else is happening with the SCMA?
As the voice of the cypress industry, SCMA’s promotion goal/bottom line is to raise awareness of cypress as a stellar and aesthetically pleasing building and design material. And at present, SCMA is putting the finishing touches on two editorial articles/listicles to be distributed across the country by content partner, Brandpoint.
One of the feature articles focuses on how design pros are incorporating cypress cabinetry and ceiling treatments into modern kitchens. The other takes a look at how woodworkers are creating beautiful custom furniture with cypress. Both will be posted to the Association’s website, www.CypressInfo.org, and shared across social media platforms.
We can’t say enough about the power of the listicle! The list-based format is a favorite with online and print news editors because they - and their readers - want concise information and inspiring visuals. The ‘listicle’ provides that and has become the go-to format for spreading our Cypress message. The communication process is simple and effective!
New Cypress Siding Installation Guidelines
Now available for download at www.CypressInfo.org, a 12-page Cypress Siding Installation Guide. The new resource details how to install various vertical and horizontal siding patterns, and delves into how to install rainscreen, which is becoming a popular alternative to traditional cladding methods.
