All CEOs and executive leadership teams are busy. But are they really working on the issues and opportunities that are most critical to the organization, or are they rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic? The key to being a high achievement company that executes is focusing your finite resources of time and money on the few critically important goals and saying ‘NO’ to PIGS (Pretty Important Goals).

The key to executing is engaging in strategic thinking every quarter, focusing on those goals for 90 days, while saying ‘NO’ to the PIGS. At the end of the 90 days, reevaluate the landscape and all the projects, goals and activities that vie for your time and money. Then, determine how you will use your precious resources to best serve the company. Once you set your priorities for the new quarter, put your heads down and focus only there for the next 90 days.
