The bottom line for the Southern Cypress Manufacturers Association (SCMA) is to raise awareness of Cypress as a stellar and aesthetically pleasing building and design material. But … how is that to be accomplished when a pandemic has the consuming public in semi-lockdown mode?
Getting the Word out
It’s all about a succinctly penned Cypress message that gets distributed to countless mobile devices and desktops via online and print news outlets! Case in point, SCMA’s most recent list-based article, “5 Creative Ways to a Backyard Paradise.”
Scores of information seekers, looking to add pizzazz to their patios or lanais, had our Cypress message at their fingertips in a matter of hours! And without stepping from the safety of their homes! The good news is that the communication process is simple, and most of all, effective!
To date, the listicle has received 1,109 online placements and reached a potential audience of 213 million readers. The project generated $380,000 in estimated advertising value, for an ROI of 108 to 1. And that’s not all.

Looking ahead …
We’re crossing our fingers and hoping that by this time next year we will again be out and about, meeting with friends and colleagues. And so, plans are in the works for SCMA’s participation in the November 2021 North American Wholesale Lumber Association’s (NAWLA) Trader’s Market - a uniquely designed tradeshow for manufacturers of lumber and lumber-related products, and an excellent venue for spreading our cypress message and expanding our lumber industry networks.
