NextGen Leaders Council not missing a beat
Mentoring is an excellent way to engage, develop and retain employees. And HMA’s NextGen Leaders Council was established to do just that. The effort is ongoing. And according to Council Coordinator, Bob Miller, Frank Miller Lumber Company, Inc., the COVID-19 situation has not deterred the endeavor one bit.
Each quarter, a “Guest Presenter” conducts a Conference-Call learning session to widen industry knowledge and/or professionalism. And in September, in addition to the group’s monthly Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Call, the Council members participated in a presentation by industry supplier and HMA colleague, Riley Smith of TS Manufacturing, Lindsay, Ontario.
TS Manufacturing is a designer and manufacturer of sawmill and lumber handling equipment. Smith’s presentation focused on automation in lumber grading and packaging. Per Council Coordinator Miller, the well received, information-rich session was recorded and will soon be available for review.
The topic/presenter of the Council’s next Quarterly Conference-Call Learning Session has yet to be determined, so please stay tuned for more information. And in case you are new to the HMA, the purpose of the HMA NextGen Leaders Council is to engage and mentor the next generation of industry leaders. So, if there is a potential leader in your organization, contact the HMA - 412.244.0440 – to discuss the possibilities.
