A message from HMA’s President
By Troy Brown
I can’t wait to get through COVID-19! And I trust that you all feel the same way. All aspects of our lives have been thrown off balance. And it sure would be nice to experience a small taste of what used to be – like getting together at an HMA Regional Meeting – and having the opportunity to see various equipment; share ideas and just have fun with each other.
I’m happy to tell you that HMA is making that happen. In December, our Northeast Regional Meeting is taking place, virtually. And all you have to do is open your mind – and your computer or mobile device - to see the latest technology in operation via the virtual tours of Ron Jones Hardwood Lumber Sales and Matson Lumber Company.
And HMA is even planning a Virtual Happy Hour following the tour of Matson Lumber. I think it’s great that we’ll all be able to kick back, enjoy our favorite libation, and talk. Just like old times – sort of!
Your participation is important. Linda is working hard and creatively to make all of this available to us. So, keep an eye on your email for the specifics of these great events. And be sure to register. I look forward to talking with you during Happy Hour.
Before signing off, I wanted to note the significant work being done by the Real American Hardwood Promotion Coalition (RAHPC), and HMA’s involvement with that fine effort. As you know, RAHPC began in 2019 when HMA and 27 other hardwood industry associations and organizations came together to develop a “coordinated and collaborative domestic initiative to effectively tell our hardwood story and communicate the science-based benefits of real American hardwood products.”
Much has been accomplished since then. And it’s exciting! Through the research conducted by the RAHPC, we’ve learned that we need to be in front of the consumer, at the beginning of their decision-making process, if we want to win the fight against hardwood imposters. And now, with the RAHPC’s marketing plan, the mechanism is in place to promote hardwood products and take back our industry.
To get up-to-speed, regarding RAHPC’s promotion and marketing strategies, I encourage you all to visit www.RealAmericanHardwood.com. You’ll like what you see. And you’ll be able to view video presentations providing updates on the Coalition’s ongoing work. Get on board.
Have a blessedly delicious Thanksgiving and stay safe.
